Amruta Khanolkar is an experienced, results‑oriented leader with more than 20 years of experience in the building industry across private and nonprofit sectors. She blends deep technical expertise in decarbonization, net‑zero energy design, and demand‑response management with exceptional organizational and program‑delivery skills.
She co‑founded the Advanced Water Heating Initiative, a national effort accelerating the transition to low‑carbon water‑heating solutions. As Principal Investigator, she has led more than $15M in statewide field‑validation and product‑commercialization projects for emerging technologies, collaborating closely with manufacturers, funders, and subcontractors to bring new solutions to market.
Previously, Amruta managed large utility prescriptive and custom‑measure portfolios encompassing 122+ measures and delivering an annual savings potential of 6,000,000 kWh and 30,000 therms. Her portfolio spanned residential and commercial building technologies, distributed energy resources, and grid‑connected systems.
She has led teams across corporations, startups, research institutions, and nonprofits, driving product development and large‑scale deployment that resulted in multiple successful product and program launches. Earlier in her career, she helped design and develop one of the first net‑zero commercial buildings in Oregon, US.
